How about exercises and flexibility designed for seniors who cannot do the types of exercises shown above? At 70 I do some yoga, ab exercises, weight lifting and biking. But with multiple back surgeries, knee replacement, neck surgery, etc., life is not as easy as it is for Justin Johnson. I’m sure I am not alone out there.

BRILLIANT!!! I am among the “more mature” golfers who neglect range of motion… especially in my hips and glutes. This neglect is really stupid as it ends up hurting my game as well as actually hurting when doing everyday activities… like picking up stuff off the floor, tying my shoes, and putting my shorts on in the morning. I’ve done a round of your movements and they already make my muscles feel better/refreshed… I look forward to going deeper.

Interesting and I will try these. I am just this side of 70, 5’6″, 150 lbs. with disc issues at C3-4 and 5-6 as well as L3-S1. Lower back is diagnosed as congenital stenosis. Years ago, after a road-trip vacation, I began a series of stretches and exercises specifically targeting lower back and hamstrings. At the beginning of this year, I dusted off the old Total Gym 1000 to add strengthening the upper body, shoulders and back. I also do 20 deep knee bends as fast as I can to strengthen the thighs. Between the exercises and a swing technique change, I have added 30 yards to my drives. Still not “long” but it is keeping me at the white tees.

My question is – how much would I, or should I, push the “bouncing” in this stretch? I am obviously very protective of any unbalanced load in an active movement.

I try to play three times a week and accomplish that by taking two Ibuprofens 20 minutes before playing. It takes me a little time to move properly the morning after playing but I am able to get to get back (pardon the pun) to an acceptable place.
