Proper Release

The release of a golf club is confusing. The proper release has the club square at impact and then square as long as possible at your intended target.

That’s great, but how do you practice something that’s a millisecond long.

In today’s video I’ll share a super simple drill that gives you instant feedback on your release.

The best part is you can practice this drill at the range, the park or even your back yard. Just make sure when doing this drill you’re picking a specific specific intended target.

Is this a literal thing my right arm should do or just a gross example of it’s movement in the direction of the target?

It’s a good drill. Davis Love Jr. (Love III’s dad) used it when he was teaching. There is some disagreement about whether the ball should be released directly at the ground (probably just in front of the normal ball position with an iron) or at the target, but either way it’s an effective drill.

Also try throwing the golf club,,,good for lots of reasons, but essentially swing the club as though you are hitting a ball then release the club at the intended target..much easier sounding than it is..great drill for finding the release point. just be sure that you have a lot of area to throw the club
