As an avid golfer with chronic back problems and limited hip mobility, I find your videos to be extremely helpful. But it’s hard to remember all these exercises and stretches. Could you put them into a format that could be easily printed out with illustrations so we can use it as a handy reference?
Hi Rodger,
I sell a manual with a lot of golf specific exercises and stretches. Contact me at mark@thegolfyogi.com and I’ll give you the details.
Thanks!
Mark, I love the stretching exercises you give us from time to time. I’m having some pain in my right hip and lower back area. I do several stretches to help loosen it up but i am still bothered at night when trying to sleep. I can get about 2+ hours of sleep until the discomfort in the right hip wakes me up and then i struggle to get comfortable and back to sleep. I must wake up 6-7 times during the night, fighting the discomfort. I even use a pillow between my legs / knees for some relief. I’ve had an x-ray taken of the right hip but it came back fine. Can you give me some specific exercises for the hips? I do NOT want to even consider having a hip replacement unless it becomes so bad i have no choice. Thanks, in advance!
Hi Vince,
These exercises would be good to add to your current stretching routine. Some other good ones before you go to bed would be pigeon pose or stacking logs, a seated or lying down figure 4, and some very simple moving squats. Feel free to email me directly at mark@thegolfyogi.com if you have any other questions.
Thanks Vince!
Get an ultrasound to see if you have bursitis. It causes severe pain when you lie down on the hip.
I appreciate this as well as you other golf yogi tips. In this one on the last exercise I believe when you brought your knee to your elbow it was the opposite elbow. You didn’t say nor could you tell for certain due to your positioning to the camera.
Hi Bill,
Yes, in the last exercise I am taking my elbow to the opposite knee. That is the only way to stay square doing this particular exercise.
Thanks Bill!
What if we’ve had one or both hips replaced?
