Overspeed training is talked about a lot when it comes to increasing your swing speed. Fire the fast twitch muscles and you’re bombing it like Bryson. Maybe not quite. It’s a combination of strength and speed. And we can do both with a tool like the Edge Power Trainer.
Take your five iron and flip it upside down.
Swing it 5 times as fast as you can
The swoosh should be loudest at the impact area
Flip your five iron right side up
Swing it 5 times as fast as you can (try to swing it as fast as you did when it was upside down)
The swoosh should be loudest at impact
Attach the Edge Power Trainer to your five iron
Swing it 10 times as fast as you can (try to swing it as fast as you did when it didn’t have the weight attached)
Step Four: repeat step 2
Step Five: repeat step 1
Do this 2-3 times a week and you’re going to see an increase in your swing speed. There are other variations of this exercise but if you’ve been to GolfersRX before, you know we like to keep it simple.
We also like to hit it long. 30 swings a few times a week can go a long way when it comes to increasing your distance.
