Know Your Putter Face Angle

Watch today's video to learn if your face angle is generally open or closed without all the fancy equipment.

Hey, Quite The Chap here for GolfersRX. Do you know your clubface angle?

How about for your Putter, your putter face angle.

While swing path is important, but your face angle is critical.

According to Quintic Ball Roll, face Angle at IMPACT accounts for up to 90—92% of the golf ball’s start direction. Consider 90%; that’s a lot!

If your putter face is 2 degrees open at impact, you will miss the hole from 5 feet!

For a putt to go in from 8 feet, the face’s angle needs to be less than 1 degree open or closed. We’re talking little fractions of degrees.  Your Putting Drills must address a putter face balance.

So how do you know if your face angle is generally open or closed without all the fancy equipment?

In this How To Golf Putting Video, Quite the Chap shows you a little trick with a golf tee and some tape.  Have a look.

You will be able to tell where that putter face is pointing when it’s coming through impact.

You won’t be able to tell how open or closed your putter face is, but this putting tip will give you an idea if your putter face is coming through impact open or closed.

The bonus is that it’s also going to help you line up to your target properly. So that always helps when you want to sink putts. Aiming at your target. So I’ve heard.

Until next time, keep it simple.
