Hi there, fellow golfer.
I’m professional golfer and TV host Blair O’Neal, and I want to tell you about something I saw recently that truly blew me away.
Keep in mind, I’ve played this game for decades – as you probably have, too.
I’ve seen how advances in equipment technology can help everyday amateurs.
For example, lighter shafts boost your driving distance.
Bigger clubheads improve your accuracy.
And hybrid clubs are way more effective than the long irons of old.
There’s one thing, though, that I’ve never come across:
Let’s face it – perimeter weighting may have been the last big breakthrough in putter technology.
And that was in the 1960s.
In the meantime, we’ve gotten some nice upgrades. Oversized grips and better alignment aids come to mind.
There’s been a boatload of gimmicks, too.
But like I said, I haven’t seen a putter that can make a meaningful, measurable difference where it matters most:
On the scorecard.
Actually, let me rephrase that.
I hadn’t seen such a putter.
But I have now.
So has Joe Epps, an 18 handicapper who got immediate (and amazing) results with this new putter.
The same goes for Jim Stewart, a 23 handicap, and Scott Packard, a 14.
I’ll share their eye-opening stats and comments , along with other golfers’, in a moment.
Oh, and if you’re assuming this putter will only help mid- to high handicappers, I’ll introduce you to Tim Case.
Given his sporty 1.4 index, you wouldn’t expect Tim to show much improvement just by switching putters.
And yet, he did. Boy, did he ever.
I’ll give you all the details shortly.
First, here’s a small taste of how 10 everyday amateurs fared with this new putter:
Go ahead and do the math for 18 holes. Yep, that’s a reduction of nearly 5 shots each.
Told you it was mind-blowing.
As is the technology behind their improvement.
Would you believe it’s based on a decades-old feature of drivers and fairway woods?
It’s true.
In a nutshell: The design compensates for miss-hits toward the toe and heel – much like “gear effect” does for off-center drives – preventing the ball from veering off the intended line.
That’s right.
That’s not all, either.
It’s got a great alignment aid that not only helps you line up the blade with precision, it gets your eyes in the perfect position at address.
That’s a HUGE key to accurate, consistent putting.
There’s more, too, like the unique, stroke-smoothing grip and the solid yet silky-soft feel that makes distance control a breeze.
Are you ready to see this game-changing magic wand?
Here it is:
See those grooves?
They’re not just cool looking. They’re the key difference between the Pyramid Putter and every other flat-stick out there.
Specifically, the angled lines toward the heel and toe – called Limited Dispersion Grooves – impart a small but significant amount of correction on off-center strikes.
And that’s what makes the Pyramid Putter so deadly from all over the green.
As I mentioned earlier, the design was inspired by the “gear effect” you get from drivers and fairway woods.
Gear effect is created by clubface curvature, called "bulge and roll."
When you strike the club’s toe, the face opens – which would normally send the ball dead right. But thanks to gear effect, the ball turns gently back toward center.
Likewise, gear effect decreases the leftward drift of a heel shot, bending the ball back to the right.
Now, you might be wondering how we could build gear effect into a putter.
At such slow swing speeds, bulge and roll would have little if any impact (and might even cause worse misses).
Right?
Right.
But veteran club designer Matt Stephens was determined.
But if bulge and roll wouldn’t do it, what would?
Matt started playing around with various theories. He came up with some intriguing concepts that may well have done the trick.
One problem: They’d run afoul of golf’s strict equipment rules.
Then he struck upon an idea that not only made sense, it fell within USGA and R&A guidelines.
And the Pyramid Putter was born.
Matt tested the prototype with humans and a putting robot. While not every putt went in, the results made it crystal clear:
This thing worked.
Let’s take a quick look at Matt’s brilliant innovation:
The Pyramid Putter features three sets of precision-milled scoring lines to ensure putts roll smoothly and on-target – even if your stroke is off.
When you strike the center of the Pyramid Putter, the horizontal grooves give the ball topspin – so there’s no skidding or bouncing as it tracks the hole. The consistent roll means you’ll come up short far less often, and your long-range speed control will improve, too.
Strike the toe of a standard putter and you’ll usually push the ball. But the angled toe milling on the Pyramid Putter gets the ball tracking on your intended line.
Striking the heel of a conventional putter typically causes – you got it – a deflating pull. Not so with the Pyramid Putter thanks to the angled scoring lines on the heel portion.
There are other elements that add to the Pyramid Putter’s playability and appeal. It’s available in both blade and mallet designs, with your choice of three shaft lengths and in right- and left-handed versions.
I’ll spell out some specifics in a moment.
But first, I promised you more jaw-dropping details from amateur testing.
So let’s jump back in with this little nugget:
With their own putters – the ones they’d been using for who knows how long – that number was 2.2 strokes.
Think about it. Or if you keep your own stats, look it up and tell me:
On putts of 20 feet, are you more likely to one-putt or three-putt?
(I’m pretty sure I know the answer – and it’s not “one-putt.”)
Keep in mind, these 10 golfers’ handicaps ranged from 1.4 to 23, with an average of 15.8. Only two were single-digits.
All in all, a good group. But they wouldn’t exactly put a scare in the European Ryder Cup team.
For the test, each golfer got three attempts from 10 feet, three from 20 feet and three from 30.They had to putt everything out, and all strokes were counted.
They used their own putters for one set of putts, the Pyramid for another.
By day’s end, the results told an obvious yet remarkable story:
Nope.
Not. Even.Close.
Here’s more proof for you:
Can you say WOW?
That was my reaction.
I wasn’t alone, either.
Let’s hear from the golfers who participated in the test:
"When I putt with my Pyramid Putter I can feel confident in two things. First that I am aligned properly on my chosen line. And just as important, I know the ball will roll consistently on that line."
“The way the ball rolls off the Pyramid Putter... it feels great. You can tell the difference... it just rolls perfect. I have never felt this comfortable with a putter using it the first time.”
“I was amazed that I could putt that well with a putter I've never used before. I liked the way I could just follow the line and set up to it. It's amazing. The ball moves nice and smoothly... it rolls very well and true. You're going to have to pry it out of my cold, dead hands. I'm gonna win a lot of money from my buddies with this putter.”
"The alignment feature helps you find the line letting you know if you are too far or too close. The Pyramid has more topspin so I'm not leaving putts short. The Pyramid Putter is really easy to get used to, there is no break-in period... it's good right out of the box. I feel comfortable with it because of the grip, the alignment feature, and it felt better on miss-hits. If you're a tour player maybe you don't miss-hit it, but I do. It really helps if you miss-hit it on the toe... it comes back, and if you hit it on the heel it comes back the other way."
"I love the grip! It felt really good in my hands. I love the alignment tool on top of the Pyramid Putter. It shows me if I'm too low or too high. It gives me real confidence that the line that I'm aiming to is correct. It's easier to make a stroke when you are properly aligned. Whether I hit it on the toe, the heel or in the middle, all the putts went the same distance. It just feels solid."
"Instant feedback... I know if I need to tilt up a little bit to get my eyes aligned. I have more tap-ins than ever. Knowing that I'm never going to hit the ball perfect, but knowing the forgiveness is there, gives me real confidence. I would put THE PYRAMID PUTTER against any brand out there."
You’ll find even more testimonials – from golfers who’ve bought the Pyramid Putter – at the bottom of this page.
And if you’d like to hear what some truly objective, third-party observers have to say, I’ll share some of the many glowing media reviews.
That’s coming up.
First, let’s circle back to something I mentioned earlier.
As you know, proper alignment is critical to good putting.
But did you know that 90% of golfers fail to line up correctly, consistently, on putts inside 10 feet?
Or that a mere 2-degree error can cause a miss from 5 feet?
Both true.
With the Pyramid Putter, you can be darn sure you’re aligned where you want to be , every single time.
Then there’s eye positioning.
Any teacher will tell you that if you get your eyes too far inside the ball, you’re likely to push the putt. Too far outside the ball and you’re looking at a pull.
Get your eyes directly on top of the ball, though, and you greatly increase your chances of holing out.As you can see in this graphic, that’s exactly what the Pyramid helps you do.
A. Eyes inside target line, miss to the right.
B. Perfect Putting Position – Eyes Over the Ball.
C. Eyes outside target line, resulting in a miss to the left.
Notice the series of grooves, aligned to form a pyramid, on the putter’s top line. With your eyes over the ball, you can easily tell if it’s directly aligned with the sweet spot.
The Pyramid Putter’s grip is uniform in diameter from top to bottom, which keeps your grip pressure light and steady.
It’s also lined with small, silicone dots for enhanced feel. And the larger-than-standard size limits hand and wrist movement, so you’ll naturally engage the arms and shoulders for a consistent, “pendulum-style” stroke – just like the pros.
Now, I do want to make something clear:
The Pyramid Putter is NOT a gimmick.
In other words, don’t expect to see badly miss-hit putts defying physics and turning sharply back toward the hole.
It doesn’t work like that. The effect is subtle – but substantial, as those test results prove.
You don’t have to take my word, or those of other golfers, either.
Just ask the golf media.
As a general rule, reporters are extremely suspicious of words like “groundbreaking,” “revolutionary” and “unique.” Make big claims for your new club and – if you can’t back them up – the press will shred you like parmesan.
And yet one journalist after another has gone gaga over Matt Stephens’ invention. Here are a few examples…
"It’s putting’s version of corrective lenses. My conclusion: When I get a Pyramid AZ-2, I expect to put it in the bag immediately and bench my current putter, with which I’ve had an on-again, off-again fling. This, however, could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship."
"It’s no fluke the Aztec (model) was named best new putter in the new product zone at 2018 PGA Merchandise Show. These grooves create a pyramidal shape designed to bring miss-struck putts back to the user’s intended line. Hit it on the heel or the toe and turn your misses into straight putts."
"The result is one solid putt after another, excellent distance control and more confidence overall, a true plus for those of us battling the dreaded yips now and again. A Golf Tips editor tested the wand at a mountain course in northern California with greens running about 10.5 on the Stimpmeter, logging one of his best putting rounds in months including several buried middle-distance efforts for par or birdie."
"Right off of the face on a well-struck putt, you know it was hit correctly. The horizontal mill lines send the ball towards the target hugging the ground and without any of the skid or bouncing that can occur even on putts struck out of the center. Conversely, on a putt struck outside of center, the performance of the putt makes your reconsider whether you really hit it that poorly."

The following testimonials came via social media and email.
"I bought one last week. Four rounds in I believe this putter has made a big difference in my game."
“Definitely impressed. First time (using the Pyramid) today, only a dozen practice putts and only had 25 putts… lag putts were awesome… feels great even when I didn't think I hit good. Finally broke par on a regular course I've been playing on for 20 years, putter definitely had a lot to do with it! Thanks Pyramid.”
"Just got one. Am a 12 handicap and shot a 77. Missed one 3 – 5-footer because of speed. All were on line. So far so good!!!!"
"I bought one a few weeks ago. I truly believe it is more accurate. Great putter."
“I have been a good putter all my life, (making) 9 out of 10 3-footers, probably half the 6-footers and once in a while or better yet: 1 out of 10 12-footers. Never anything over 15 feet. The reason I bought the Pyramid was that I was starting to miss some of the 3’s and almost all the sixes and anything over that – forget it!
“The moment I got the Pyramid I started making everything! I had a club match 3 days after its arrival and sunk three 20 – 25 (foot) putts and everything inside of 15 feet. The opponent was so angry that after I closed him out all he could complain about was how I didn’t miss a putt!
“All I do is I'd aim the center of the club at the center of the hole: if it’s up or downhill, the gear effect takes over and BANG! all they do is disappear.”
