Sure-Set Tip — Simple Swing Sequence

Your swing sequence in four easy steps!

Practice the sequence of your golf swing with the sure set. (Grab yours here —> Sure Set Training Aid)

1) A slight forward hand press

2) wrist hinge (sure set tucked into lead armpit)

3) forearm rotation

4) body rotation

That’s your backswing in the simplest steps possible.

——————————

Stop throwing your arms at the ball and start rotating into the ball for more power with the Sure Set. (Grab yours here: Sure Set Training Aid.)

Take your set up position. Take your swing to the top of the backswing. NOW, instead of throwing your arms, ROTATE your lower body. Feel the pressure on the inside of your trailing foot into the ground as you rotate. Your upper body is automatically going to follow and you’ve put yourself into a very powerful position at impact.

This is going to help you store all that power you’ve created in your backswing right until impact where it’s most effective.

Hmmm, I have an issue with the “forearm rotation” part. If you rotate your forearms on the way back you are opening the clubface which leads to a slice or will cause you to flip at the ball to slam the face shut. This is “old school” teaching and isn’t taught by places like GolfTec. You should be trying to keep the clubface square to the swing arc. Once I learned this, I went from being a mid-80’s/low 90’s player to a mid-70’s/low 80’s player. Food for thought.

Lee, you are 100% Correct! Once a golfer begins to roll his forearms back on the back swing; the club face rotates as well and becomes WIDE-OPEN. Getting that open club head CLOSED at precisely the right instant is NOT POSSIBLE ON A CONSISTENT BASIS. I like the concept behind this device but the beginning of the swing will promote a bad habit nearly all high handicappers loathe and MUST RID THEMSELVES OF to EVEN APPROACH CONSISTENCY IN SHOT MAKING. Colby,
Love your work. Your videos are very helpful. I too am the proud owner of a SureSet. I’m not sure that a wrist set prior to the backswing is correct. The Sureset instruction video has the plastic ball of the SureSet contacting the pectoral area somewhere around parallel to the ground just after the take away thus avoiding an early wrist set. Bottom line, are you ok with an early wrist set? Thanks for what you do. I look forward to your next 60 second Rx.
