Wanna Break 90? Sand Saves Made Easy

This is a simple drill for better sand shots

Hey Quite The Chap here for GolfersRX… the sand man. The sand. The *BLEEPING* sand…in today’s video.

I’m not going to lie, I’m NOT of fan of the sand. If I’m in the sand, sometimes I just throw my ball on the green and then put that little asterisk beside my score that I then ignore at the end of the round. But I have been working on becoming a better sand player and I’ve been using one drill in particular.

1 – Take your normal setup
2 – take your back foot and move it back
3 – ensure that more than 50% of your weight is on your front foot
4 – make your swing

This does two things for me. One, it forces me to make sure most of my weight is on my front foot so I don’t get stuck on my back foot and hit waaaaay behind the ball. And secondly, it actually quiets my legs and makes me use my shoulders and arms more, forcing me to accelerate through the ball.

Until next time, keep it simple

I like the way Colby presents a fix for problems. It’s usually quite simple and easy to do. I appreciate that. Even I understand his thinking!

Colby: YOU are the best — seriously, your little one minute tips are always good and simple, and I have been playing golf since I got married at 24, and started using my skirt chasing time to something not so dangerous when married. I am now 84 and still love the game, and remember that even Arnold Palmer late in life still worked on his game, as loss of flexibility, muscle power and focus make the game much harder as we age. I have shot my age at least once every year since I turned 69, but shooting in the 70s have become illusive — yet it is still fun, and I still love your tips as they are simple to follow and practical — YOU should have made it in Hollywood also as you have a wonderful screen presence.
    Thanks Joe

I love these tips! I wish I had started playing the game when I was young. Just turned 75 and love playing with my lady’s foursome and in the league. I practice these tips and always look forward to the next series.
