Hit a Bunker Shot From Thick Rough

If you're stuck in some thick green-side rough, hit a bunker shot.

If you’re stuck in some thick green-side rough, hit a bunker shot.

Imagine this, your ball is surrounded by thick rough. There’s no way you’re going to get the club face on the ball. So, you’re worried that the club is going to get narled up. Set up to the ball like a bunker shot- little left of target, open the club face- then rip through the rough and watch your ball pop out.

It’s a lot easier than it sounds. There’s less margin for error and you’re more likely to get the ball onto the green. The key…accelerate through the impact zone. You’ve got to commit.

Chuck, thank you very much for your insightful tips and clear to replicate movements with a golf club to get out of trouble. You do a fantastic job picking troublesome areas of the game and explaining how to work the club to extract yourself out of trouble into a better position, without listening to one’s ego that encourages one to take risks, foolishly thinking one can succeed the majority of the time. Looking forward to more interesting and helpful presentations with keen insight to the game. The Duffer of Las Vegas
