Master Your Transition

Master the transition from your backswing to your downswing with a simple drill.

Master the transition from your backswing to your downswing with a simple drill.

You don’t need to complete a swing overhaul to make better contact. You don’t necessarily need to swing faster to hit the ball farther. Maybe you just need to sync everything up a little more and make better contact with the ball.

Fact: the more the ball is hit out of the centre of the club face the farther it’s going to travel…or so I’ve experienced. This simple drill helps us sync up our body to deliver the club into the ball with more power. It also encourages us to start our downswing from the ground up which will allow us to generate more power.

In today’s video you’ll see Colby use the Power Stick to really fine tune this drill. We secured a 20% discount on this great aid right here: Secure your discounted Power Stick

BIG thumbs up. Long time 5 or below handicap. When I get the transition started “slowly” (not trying to jump out of my shoes) the
clubhead literally flies from the inside to the outside at the maximum speed I can produce at my age, flies long with a baby draw.
Yesterday after an hour long lightening delay my tee time arrived, 2 strangers were put in with my friend and I, with a long line waiting I tried to jump out of my shoes rushing took 4 to reach a par5 made double. Got my transition slowed on the 2nd and only made 4 more bogies on the day for an okay round.

A very good drill,,, your knees need to be more flexible to balance the back side during transition to prevent the roll over of the left foot, wich should be pushing off more to rotate th hip and prevent the roll over of the left foot with the weight still on the left foot, you will develop problems with the bones rubbing in the left foot. Keep your good work up.

The 60second tip is wonderful as it focuses on the process versus

the outcome. There are numerous factors of influence that are not

within our control weather, course structure, trees etc. Focused

attention on process gives one a much better potential to play

through the inevitable errors …. and thats golf ….huh!!

Thank you! Keep the 60 second tips coming. They are short, communicated well and easy to access. The tip on timing and speed of swing (hesitate at the top) was very helpful for me since I have a tendency to rush both my backswing, my transition and my follow through, which is frustrating since my misses are left, right, short – all over the place. So keep the short tips coming. They are helpful and easy to understand then put into practice.

    Thanks again,
    Mark

It’s a very important mental note that needs repeated over and over. When l go bad with my swing that is usually the reason. Not getting set at top cause i’m in too big a rush to hit the ball. Something you can work on without even using a ball. Great swing tip!

    SWEET SPOT QUESTION,,,,

When you check for the sweet spot on a putter you hold it up and tap on the face to see where it responds straight back and forward,,,

When I do it with irons it shows right in the center,,,

But when I do it with woods it responds the best just inside the center of the face closer to the heel!!!!!!!!!!!!

    So is this correct?????????????

LOVE these short clips! Helpful, entertaining, short and sweet. The “pause” at the top my fav as starting down before I get set my nemesis and the root cause of mishits. Tougher than it looks to go to the range and really, truly pause at the top but a great drill to work on. Feels like I am in pause for 15 seconds when it is likely one second but that’s the idea: work on getting the feeling. Keep em coming!

I LOVE that you can give quality golf instruction in 60 seconds! So many other instructions spend 5 minutes of an 8 minute video telling what you’re doing wrong, 2 minutes on instruction and 1 minute trying to get you to buy whatever they’re selling. This 60 second format is extremely effective because it gives you one thing to focus on. BRAVO!!!

This is a great tip. I have known it for 30 years now. What I need is a tip that will stop me from starting the downswing before I get to the top. I tend to jerk it and well you can imagine the trouble I get into when that happens. My dad use to tell me it’s man’s anxiety to hit the ball in which isn’t much of a hit.
