Game-Changing Chipping Drill

Mr. Shortgame is going to show you a chipping drill that changed HIS game!

Mr. Short Game has a How to Golf Video showing you a chipping drill that changed his game!  Yes, a Game-Changing Chipping Drill.

Have you chunked a chip shot that didn’t make the putting surface?

How about a thinned chip that shot across the green?

Yeah, we’ve all hit them. The pros even hit them ‘cough, cough’ Tiger Woods.

Game-Changing Chipping Drill

Well, here is a simple drill that you can do on the range or the short-game area to help you swing through the chip.

Making crisp, clean contact is not only going to help you hit the ball closer to the pin. It’s also going to help you create some consistency.

A shot that comes out of the center of the clubface is going to have optimal spin. It’s going to react consistently (depending on the lie). And it’s going to allow you to get up and down more often, helping you salvage that par!

Isn’t the shot you are hitting a pitch, as opposed to a chip? I can see that your drill will work to resolve the problem of hitting pitch shots too steeply, but your title is misleading. . .

I agree with Mark. You are hitting pitch shots. Also, the hands forward in chipping is widely endorsed precisely because it is restrictive. That’s the reason one places hands forward.

Again, I love Matt because he does not get technical. Technical is great but it requires far more practice than I have time for. Matt is always simple and easy to learn. My game has improved considerably by watching his videos and working them. Thanks Matt. You are the best my friend.

Without knowing it ,I use Matt’s chipping technique since a long time ,with great success .My way is the following :I set uo to the ball ,with the ball slightly towards the right foot (I’m a right handed golfer ),narrow stance ,weight well on front foot.I don’t look at the ball at all .I take aim at a point 2 to 3 inches in front of the ball that’s where I assume I will contact the ball and I make sure I bring my wrists forward when swinging .As for the choice of the club I rely on the “Rule of 12 ” method .I explain ;Distance to the ball=A Distance of ball to the pin=B Find Ratio A/B ,bring ithe ratio to 1/X .Substract X to 12:12-X=Y .Y is the club to use
