So … what about the 1/2 inch high and low impacts? or the high/low combined with toward toe or heel? Tell us the rest of the story! (or would that sound too much like an ad for the TwistFace driver from TaylorMade?!)

½” high will produce less spin and more launch angle. ½” low will do the opposite. It gets complicated when you discuss high toe and low heel as this is a function of the bulge, roll, and center of gravity of the driver.

I thought, due to gear effect, that hitting a little toward the toe would start right and create draw spin and roll out a little more. Is this not correct?

          Jeff,

If you hit the ball with an inside/out swing and hit it on the toe you will generate counter rotational side spin (gear effect) that will generally go out lower and also have a flatter landing angle which will results in more roll out then a fade spin which will flare the ball and cause it to lose roll.
