Flight Your Wedges & Get Creative

Get creative with your wedges

Hey, Quite The Chap here for GolfersRX. I’ve got a flag that is 76 yards out, and I’ve really dialed in that 76-yard wedge.  Should I switch it up?  In today’s video, Flight your Wedges.

You have 76 yards to the pin— there are multiple ways to get the ball there. Maybe run it up. Or, skip it up. You can also two-hop it up. Another option is to lay it down beside the hole like the Mars Rover.

Lots of ways. But do we ever practice those shots? As I said, I’m terrific from 76 yards with my stock shot.

Flight Your Wedges

But, here’s a fun challenge

Find a flag out on the range
Take 12 balls
Hit three balls to a flag with your stock shot
Then hit three more balls with a higher trajectory
Hit three more balls with a lower trajectory
Then hit three balls with a club altogether
– if you were hitting a pitching wedge, hit a 9 or a Sand Wedge

Getting out of your routine of hitting your stock shot all the time is not only going to make practice a little more fun, but it’s also going to open up your creativity on the golf course. You don’t always have to hit your stock shot. Have some fun and flight your wedges. Try and skip or run a 9 iron to that back pin. Get creative.

Until next time keep it simple.
