Wanna Break 90? Play For Bogey

Smart Golf can save you strokes and lower your score.  Do you play smart Golf?  Why not?

Hey, Quite the Chap here for GolfersRX. Do you go for the hero shot or do you punch out? Do you really want to break 90 or do you want to look cool…in today’s video

The hero shot is so fun…when it works out. It’s really enticing to take a swipe at the ball when we’re 30 yards in the bush and think we see a window. But do you really think you’re going to hit a tiny 4 foot by 4-foot window if you couldn’t hit a 50-yard wide fairway? It’s an honest question. If you truly want to break 90 sometimes the boring shot is the shot to make.

Play a shot that will get you back in play.
And once you’re back in play, don’t then try and make a miraculous shot to save par.
Play it safe again. Get on the green or close to.
Chip it up.
Save your bogey. Settle for a double.

While the hero shot might have squeezed out a par save it might have also squeezed the last ball out of your bag. It’s fun to see the pros hit those shots but they’re pros, they do this for a living. Now, this does come with a caveat…if you don’t care about your score, you should go for the Hero Shot 100% of the time. I mean, trees are 90% air, right?

Until next time, keep it simple
